Spring is in the air

I adore spring; as a matter of fact, it might be my favourite season of the year. I love that the sun is rising earlier, the flowers are blooming, the temperature is slowly getting warmer and I can ‘finally’ start my spring cleaning, both in the house and in my body.

“Spring, a lovely reminder of how beautiful change can truly be.”

What are you most excited about during spring? Do you have any habits you typically practice during springtime?

Here are my top 5 things to do in spring:

  1. Spring “cleaning”. I tidy up all the cabinets and drawers in the house and get rid of anything I do not need anymore. I donate or put them in the recycling bins or give them to friends or family members.

  2. I add more fresh veggies and fruit to my diet and drink more green smoothies. Here is an easy, yummy green smoothie recipe for you to try: https://www.myhealthcoachlulu.com/recipes/greensmoothiewithberries

  3. “Detox”. I don’t like that word, but it’s the right word to use to explain a “spring cleaning” of the body. I will do three days “detox” diet where I usually drink green smoothies for breakfast (I don’t add granola on the smoothie for those three days). I have salads for lunch and dinner or steamed veggies with a few nuts/seeds and a good virgin olive oil on top. Then on the last day, I’ll have steamed veggies and fish for dinner. I avoid coffee in those three days, and I drink loads of pre-boiled luke warm water. It’s a great way to re-set the body and calm down unwanted sweet cravings. I’ll make my delicious chocolate bites or small muesli bars for 1-2 snacks a day during the mini detox. https://www.myhealthcoachlulu.com/recipes/delicious-chocolate-bites

  4. I often start a new exercise routine as well. I usually go to the gym, but it’s been closed due to all the covid restrictions. Instead, this year I am “just” walking a lot. We are surrounded by mountains here in Hong Kong, where I currently live, so I take a long walk up and down the hill 1 -2 times a day.

  5. Gratitude diary: Daily, I write down 5 -10 things I am grateful for. It’s a great way to re-wire the brain to think positive, and you realise how lucky you actually are.

I will leave you for now with this lovely quote by the talented and dear Robin Williams.

“Spring is nature’s way of saying, “Let’s Party.””

And hopefully, we will all be allowed to party and meet up with friends real soon.
