“Life changes very quickly, in a very POSITIVE  WAY, if you let it.”

  • Lindsey Vonn

Spring is everywhere, the beautiful colours on the leaves and flowers, birds chirping, and longer daylight hours. Spring is the beginning of something new, fresh, and positive. It’s always been my favourite time of year, but how do you feel?

I am a very positive person at heart and I truly believe that by doing my best to keep positive in my everyday life will give me so much more strength than being mad and negative. But, I also have days where I really struggle to keep my mood up, so this is what I do to keep smiling.

1. Smile ;-) Yes, I mean that. If I’ve had a bad day, when I lie down in my bed at night, I will smile. I honestly do, because by doing this, I am telling myself that tomorrow will be a better day. Try it ;-)

2. Be grateful. Find a notebook and put it by your bed. Then, every night before you sleep, write down 10 things that make you grateful. Try it for at least 21 days. Trust me, it changes everything.

3. Surround yourself with happy people. Take a good look around and see if the people in your life are people that uplift you. Or do they actually drain you?

4. Dance. This is the best, and one of my absolute favourite uplifting things to do. Make an amazing playlist, put on your earphones, and dance away.

5. Say thank you! The more you say thank you to people during your day, the better you will feel yourself. Sometimes we forget how lucky we are and take loads of things and people for granted.

6. Do something for someone else!

7. Meditation. I swear by this. It is life-changing. 5-10 minutes a day can make such a big difference for your mental wellbeing.

8. Self-care. When the world is too overwhelming or I spend too much time with people who are negative, I take my calendar out and plan some self-care in order to recover from the damage the “world’ or situation or person has given me, so I can recharge my batteries and start smiling again.

9. When you are with someone who is constantly negative, try to answer them back in a positive way, or simply change the topic. You can't change the other person, but at least you can try to protect yourself from their negative energy.

10. Tidy up clutter in your house! Have a good look around your house and ask yourself. Do my surroundings make me happy? Do I feel happy and safe when I look around my house? Do I need to tidy up or move things around to make my home more comfy and happy?

Bonus: Say NO! Don’t let yourself be bullied into other people's negative energy. Some people will always be negative and try to dim your light. Just walk away and say “Sorry, you are simply too negative and I choose to do my best to stay positive and I don’t need your bad vibes around my space” ..bam… how did that feel?

.“Be thankful for what you have: you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”
